NewShare a meeting with a link

You think faster
than you type.

Hold a key, talk, and Loquent types what you said into whatever app you're in, without the ums and false starts. Start with "Hey Lucy" and it writes the reply for you. It also records meetings and writes the notes.

Free with a Loquent account (Google or email). Offline dictation has no word limit.

Meet Lucy

Lucy lives inside Loquent. In under two minutes she shows you dictation, "Hey Lucy", meetings and sharing. Turn the sound on to hear her.

Dictation

Talk, and it types where your cursor is

It works in any app you can type in. Watch the pill at the bottom: it listens, tidies up what you said, and pastes it.

Hold Ctrl+; and talk. When you let go, the tidy version is pasted where your cursor is: no ums or repeated words, and the punctuation is added for you.

Polished or Express

Polished fixes grammar, punctuation and filler words. Express types exactly what you said with no AI step, so it is the fastest.

Dictionary and snippets

Add names and terms so they come out spelled right. Say a snippet, like "my address", and the text you saved for it is pasted.

History

Your recent dictations stay in the app, so you can copy one or paste it again later.

Audio is not kept

Dictation audio is never saved. In offline mode it never leaves your computer.

Meetings

Windows Mac Chrome

Meeting notes you can share

Loquent records both sides of a call, writes down who said what, and turns it into a summary. Then send a link, and people read it in their browser.

Start recording before the call. Your microphone is labelled You and the call is labelled Them, and the transcript fills in while people talk.

Both sides of the call

Your microphone and the sound of the call are recorded together, so the transcript has everyone in it.

Play it back, fix it

Click a timestamp to hear that moment, or click a line to fix a word. The desktop app exports TXT, Markdown or SRT.

Three kinds of notes

A summary, a list of action items, or detailed notes by topic. A short chat gets a short summary, not made-up tasks.

Shared without the audio

The link carries the title, summary and transcript. The recording stays on your computer.

Get it on Microsoft Store

On a Mac, hearing the call needs macOS 13.2 or later and the Screen & System Audio Recording permission.

Where it works

Windows, Mac and Chrome

One free account signs you in on all three, and your dictionary, snippets and settings come with you.

Mac

macOS 12 or later

  • Hold Fn in any app and talk. Until you allow Accessibility, Ctrl+Shift+Space works instead.
  • Dictate offline on your Mac or through the cloud.
  • Records meetings. Hearing the call needs macOS 13.2 or later and the Screen & System Audio Recording permission.

Chrome extension

Chrome, Edge, Brave

  • Press Ctrl+Shift+Space on any website. The same pill shows up in the page.
  • Records a meeting in a tab, like Google Meet or Zoom and Teams in the browser, with your microphone. Alt+Shift+M starts it. Meetings are saved in your browser.
  • Nothing to install on the computer. It always uses the cloud, so it counts toward the free 2,000 words a week.

Offline mode

What offline mode asks of your computer

Every account can dictate offline, for free and with no word limit. In offline mode your computer does the work that our servers would otherwise do, and here is what that means in practice. Every model below is available on the free account.

A one-time download

The first time you use offline mode, Loquent downloads a speech model (142 MB for English). An AI model for cleanup is optional and starts at about 0.6 GB.

A burst of work each time you talk

When you stop talking, your processor or graphics card runs flat out for a moment to turn the audio into text. On a recent computer that takes a second or two. On an older or low-power laptop it can take several seconds, and you may hear the fan.

Memory while it runs

The models stay loaded while Loquent is in offline mode, so they use roughly their download size in memory. Switch to the cloud and they are unloaded.

Don't want your computer doing this work? Switch to the cloud and our servers do it instead: 2,000 words a week on the free account, unlimited on Pro.

* A dictation counts as cloud if any step of it used our servers. Offline dictation never counts. The same 2,000 words cover the app and the Chrome extension, and meetings transcribed in the cloud count too. The Chrome extension always uses the cloud.

** In the cloud, all 49 work straight away. The default offline speech model only understands English. A bigger download (466 MB or more) covers all 49.

Not sure which one?

  • Just trying it? Start with the free account and upgrade later if you need to.
  • Newer computer, or you want nothing to leave it? Use offline mode. It's free and has no word limit.
  • Older laptop, or you want the best accuracy? Use the cloud. The first 2,000 words each week are free.
  • Hitting the 2,000-word limit most weeks? That's when Pro is worth it. If you only hit it now and then, offline dictation keeps working until the week resets.
